Senior Meadows Senior Housing

QK provided the design for civil improvements, landscaping, and irrigation while conducting construction staking and utility coordination services. To meet the needs of senior residents, the plan included lots of trees for shade, along with raised planters for community gardening and walkways that included gradual transitions to prevent trip hazards. The walks also connected to the adjacent dog park for easy access for residence. The design approach reduced the amount of turf by using larger planters with drought tolerant plants and passive landscaped Bio-Swales. The Bio-Swales captured a portion of the run-off to prevent having to pipe it to a city storm water system.

The Sierra Meadows Senior Housing facility met LEED standards in the areas of storm water design, landscape design, and landscape water usage and was awarded a LEED Gold rating by the US Green Council.
