Thanks to the leadership of city officials in Merced, McNamara Park was reopened to the public in June, 2015. QK’s talented staff was honored to be trusted with the $2.6 million renovation which included comprehensive upgrades to park facilities, including a splash pad, picnic area, rock climbing wall, neighborhood meeting space, community mural painted by a UC Merced art class, and three soccer fields for recreational use.

Our ideas to get the community involved ultimately made this project a success. Whether selecting the opportunity for a student designed and painted art mural on a new public facility or building the components of the exterior fence, community members of all ages contributed to the renovation of their local park.

The McNamara Park Project recently received the 2015 Award of Excellence from the California Parks and Recreation Society. As a recipient of the Park Planning Award, our design “demonstrates high standards of planning, design, community involvement, operation and maintenance, quality of aesthetics, usability, accessibility and versatility” (California Parks and Recreation Society).
